Some #TrulyOutrageous Developments

I’m a huge Jem fan. Maybe you watched the 80’s cartoon about a band using holograms to capture America’s heart and support a foster home for girls. I remember being completely into the complicated love triangle of Jem, Jerrica, and Rio and singing along to their catchy songs.  Recently, I was able to join in the #jemlivetweet and learn just how many times The Misfits really should’ve been arrested and thrown under the jail(Shout out to @blackgirlsnerds, @reeltalker, and @reelsistas for some fun Saturdays).

You’ve probably heard about the fall theatrical release of Jem and the Holograms. Peep these tweets(1 & 2) to see how I feel about the movie.

Some Contouring Love: MUFE 5 Camouflage Cream Palette

Contouring is a HUGE deal. Some people swear by it(You’ve seen Instagram) while others aren’t too keen on it. It’s the new thing and an old trick all at the same time. It doesn’t really matter where you fall on it to me, I’m just here to give another option that I haven’t seen getting much love since all these contouring palettes have hit the market in the last year or so.

MUFE Camouflage Cream Palette
Make Up For Ever 5 Camouflage Cream Palette($38) Available at Sephora

Considering many of the palettes are $40+ or some of the darker palettes have limited availability(see: only available on company websites) compared their palettes with lighter shades I think Make Up For Ever 5 Camouflage Cream palette is worth checking out. If you’re more partial to cream than powder then this one is right up your alley. It’s smaller than many of these contouring palettes so it will travel easily and you have a color correcting shade.  It may not be billed as a “contouring palette” but let’s be honest, many of these palettes are eyeshadow/concealer-like products repackaged to cash in on the craze anyway.

Have you tried the Make Up For Ever 5 Camouflage Cream Palette?

Make Up For Ever 5 Camouflage Cream Palette is available at Sephora.com

Don't Skip SPF: @Supergoop! Sun-Defying Sunscreen Oil

What makes us not wear sunscreen? We forget. It may smell funny. Not to mention that if you have dark skin it can leave a white cast. So we tell ourselves it’s cloudy outside. We believe the temperature is an indication of the sunrays’ intensity. We say we’re covered up and not walking around outside all day so it’s okay. However, the truth is unless you’re in a windowless room 24 hours a day there’s a chance you’re getting sun exposure and need to be protected. That’s where SuperGoop! Sun-Defying Sunscreen Oil comes in. Continue reading Don't Skip SPF: @Supergoop! Sun-Defying Sunscreen Oil

You Can Never Have Too Many REDS

You Can Never Have Too Many Reds

This swatch post is brought to you by the letter H and number 50. H is for “hoarding” and 50 is for the number of lipsticks I have. Eeek! Nevertheless I thought I’d do a swatch post today. Some of these I’ve had on the blog already like Milani Best Red and Red Control and others are making their first appearance like Tarte Fiery. Continue reading You Can Never Have Too Many REDS

The Big Deal To Me About Kat Von D's Underage Red

Underage Red Title

It seems outrage over one of Kat Von D’s lipsticks caught the attention of some folks at Business Insider. The lipstick in question? Underage Red, a lipstick that has been out for years. Not buying the outrage behind it, Cindy Ha at SFUnzipped wrote an article and provided a slideshow about some other makeup products she thought had “racy” names. Those names like Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara or Nars Cosmetics Orgasm blush are familiar and in many a makeup lover’s bag or vanity. KVDs Underage Red may be as well. However, Orgasm or G-spot or Kinky don’t have the same connotation as “underage”. Continue reading The Big Deal To Me About Kat Von D's Underage Red

What's Your Signature Fragrance? #BuryMeMondays

signature fragrance title

I don’t really have a signature fragrance. I tend to wear one perfume one day and a different one another day with moments of nothing in sprinkled throughout. Sometimes I layer fragrances but I haven’t put together anything that’s amazing. I do know what I like though. Continue reading What's Your Signature Fragrance? #BuryMeMondays

Thumbs Up: NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation is the first Nars foundation I’ve tried. I have used the tinted moisturizer(I like it) and I’ve used the Radiant Creamy Concealer(I like it) but I can’t compare it to Sheer Matte or Sheer Glow. Sephora Or Ulta? #BuryMeMondays

Sephora or Ulta #BuryMeMondaysWhile there are countless websites and stores that sell beauty products, Sephora and Ulta are by far the most popular to me. Sephora has mid-level and high end brands like Dior, NARS, and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. Ulta has mid-level brands like Urban Decay and LORAC  and drugstore brands like NYX, Maybelline, and Cover Girl.

There’s a little bit of brand overlap but enough differences for someone to have a preference. So which do you love more and why? Is it Sephora or Ulta? If you’ve purchased anything lately from either store tag me on Instagram and use the hashtag #BuryMeMondays.

How Do You Apply Your Foundation? #BuryMeMondays

It’s 2015! *throws confetti* For the new year I’m going to start a Monday Question of the Day. It’ll be posted on the blog and my social media accounts(Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest). It shouldn’t be anything too controversial. I’m just looking for a way to interact with you. It will even have a hashtag #BuryMeMondays. So use the hashtag with your answer or photo so we’ll all be able to keep up. So on to the inaugural question.

Some swear by BeautyBlenders and other sponges for foundation application. Some love a stippling brush. Others like a flat foundation brush or a powder brush. And let’s not forget the people who use their hands. So how do you do it? Leave a comment below and if you want take a photo of your tool of choice. Be sure to use the hashtag #BuryMeMondays. :-)
