Hydrate That Skin: @OleHenriksen Facial Water Trio

Ole Henriksen recently dropped something new to get your skin right this fall, a trio of their Facial Waters. So what’s dope about this? Since Fall is here and Winter is coming(ha ha) cold winds and dry, hot air  will be zapping the moisture from your skin so Ole Henriksen Facial Waters can be part of your defense against that.

Ole Henriksen 3 Little Wonders Mini Review

One of my new favorite products is the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum.  I snagged it from Sephora as 100 point perk a couple of months ago and have been in love. My little .25oz sample ran out a few days ago so I decided to take the plunge and by one of the fuller sizes. This product comes in a 1oz and 1.7oz size and is $48 and $72 respectively.

I’m sure you are already thinking “Nope” and I don’t blame you. I thought the same thing and was happy to see that Ole Henriksen offered some value sets so I could get a little more bang for my buck. I decided to go with the 3 Little Wonders Mini.

My take:

I reviewed the Truth Serum in April and like I said I love it. The Invigorating Night Gel and the Transformation Crème that come in this set are just as good. I chose this particular set because of the price, $22.50, and because I wanted to try something to replace the night cream I had been using.

My current night cream really wasn’t working for me. I’d put it on after washing and wake up pretty greasy. It was annoying and gross so I thought I needed to try something else. I use the Invigorating Night Gel and Transformation Crème together and I’ve found that I go to bed matte and wake up matte. This is a major plus since it seems my oily skin stays in overdrive.

The Invigorating Night Gel is a clear gel with little to no smell and the Transformation Crème is a lotion. Both come in a jar and you don’t need much to cover your face and neck. A dime to nickel size amount has been enough for me.

The Invigorating Night Gel “supports cell turnover, improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and smooths skin texture” while the Sheer Transformation Crème helps “fade dark spots, even skintone, and prevent premature signs of aging while botanical fruit acids gently exfoliate and retexturize”. Together they’re an anti-aging combo that’s making me feel better about my skincare regimen. The Night Gel is to be used at night(obviously) and the Sheer Transformation Crème can be used at day /or night. However, the Sheer Transformation Crème doesn’t have SPF. :-(

These are good products for the price. I know everyone doesn’t want to shell out $70 for one product. To be honest, I really don’t either. That’s why I gravitated toward a set with a few products rather than buying just one.

So have you tried the 3 Little Wonders? Let me know in the comments.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster Review

I have a love/hate relationships with samples. Samples are great because it gives you the chance to test something out without commitment, but they suck when you find a product you really like and now have to shell out your pretty pennies for something you feel like you can’t live without. And it seems I can’t live without my Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster.

My little 100 pt perk from Sephora.

Ok that’s probably an exaggeration but I do really like this product. I received the .25oz sample as a 100pt perk at Sephora. I think I read somewhere that serums should be part of a skincare regimen so I thought I’d give it a shot. My plan was to use it under my moisturizer during the day and under my night cream.

Some people use serums as an alternative to moisturizers because they tend to have a non-greasy finish and don’t leave behind a sticky residue. They seem to work well for people with oily skin(I have oily skin) but people with chronic skin conditions like eczema or rosacea should beware because the serums may penetrate too quickly and cause irritation.

I didn’t experience any irritation with this product. It has a orangey smell but it’s barely noticeable. I also find that I need very little to cover my face. It works well under my moisturizer with SPF and works well under my night cream. I’m not sure if my skin looks brighter. I do feel like my skin feels better to the touch especially upon waking up.

My night cream alone is pretty lackluster but I’m finishing it to not be wasteful. Sometimes I thought my night cream wasn’t doing enough or it was making me look greasy upon waking up. Now that I’m using this serum I’m not dealing with those problems anymore. As a sidenote I think this is best used on a mostly dry freshly washed face. I used it once and my face must not have been dry enough because the product mixed with the water and became white on my face. I patted a bit off and what was left absorbed into my skin, but I learned my lesson.

Since I still have quite a bit of product left I think I’m going to hold off on buying a full bottle. The 1oz is $48 and the 1.7oz is $72. Serums tend to be the more costly product in a skincare regimen because they have more active ingredients so I’ll just have to keep that in mind.
