I buy way too much stuff. If you follow me on Instagram it’s obvious. So to curb that I jumped on the subscription box train and sprung for the Play by Sephora one. It’s $10 a month and products are curated based on my PLAY! PROFILE. This month’s box is my first one and so far I like it. I’m excited to see what next month’s box has to offer and to try some things without spending too much(Keep me lifted in prayer on that one).
So now that I’ve tried this subscription box I want to know which one YOU think is the best and why? Tweet me @shantafabulous and use the #burymemondays tag to tell me what’s the best subscription box.
First, I’m not talking about Manny Guiterrez, Wayne Goss, Sam Fine, AJ Crimson, James Vincent, Nicky Posley, Renny Vasquez or any other male makeup artists. I’m talking about men that don’t wear makeup and quite possibly don’t like makeup on other people. Do their opinions matter? Should they even be voicing their opinions about makeup or should they just STFU?
I know where I stand on this. I think they should find something else to comment on. Voicing a dislike of makeup or a wish for a more natural aesthetic adds nothing to the makeup wearer’s life. It’s just a way for men to attempt to exercise influence over the choices of others. But that’s what I think. What do you think? Tell me on Twitter or Facebook and use the #burymemondays tag.
Today’s question isn’t about what works and what doesn’t. Today’s question is about what you won’t even attempt to test out.
Once upon a time I stuck to dark lipsticks because I thought that’s what a dark skin black woman was supposed to do. Later, I had to push past all the shoulds and oughts when it came to my ideas about what lip colors were okay for me to wear. So I understand being apprehensive about trying something new.
So what’s a lip color you are scared to try? Reach out to me on Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat(shantafabulous). And if you’re looking for inspiration there are lots women wearing different shades in the #nobarelips30 hashtag across social media.
When I began this blog almost 3 years ago there were only a handful of brands that made blue lipstick while everyone else was stuck on pinks and reds. Blue was unconventional. Fast forward to now and brands from Anastasia Beverly Hills to NYX have some version of blue. So whose is the best? And if you’re not wearing blue lipstick, why not?
