Filling A Void: Black Radiance(@b_radiance) Soft Focus Finishing Powder

Disclosure: I received this product from Black Radiance. All opinions are my own.

Black Radiance Soft Focus Finishing Powder Makeup For WOC. A lightweight powder that absorbs oil and gives sheer to light coverage. A perfect powder to use during warmer weather or as a setting powder. For the brown girl living in a world where department store brands may not be within reach Black Radiance can be the plug. I’ve been in drugstores that stock up to the first dark foundation shade when 2 or 3 follow it. This kind of thing leaves many dark skin consumers out. Consumers who are ready to spend their money and be loyal to a brand forever. So I think Black Radiance fills that space. Ever Elusive: Melt Cosmetics Blow and DGAF

Melt Cosmetics Blow DGAF

(Note: This is a repost from Nov 2014)

After months and months of waiting for Melt to restock some of their popular colors I was able to get Blow and DGAF this month. Blow is a pretty matte green and DGAF is dark matte blue. Unfortunately, DGAF is sold out again with no clear restock date. I suggest signing up for the Melt newsletter and pay attention to Melt’s social media accounts for any updates. Now, on to the photos.

Gimme More Mattes: Milani Cosmetics Matte Lipsticks Photos + Swatches

New 2015 Milani Matte Lipsticks

First, let me say I had no idea that Milani was coming out with new lipsticks this summer. Last I heard new lipsticks would be out this Fall so it took me by surprise to see the display in Walgreens. In my excitement, I snatched up these 6(there are 8 total) with the quickness. Continue reading Gimme More Mattes: Milani Cosmetics Matte Lipsticks Photos + Swatches

I can’t help but buy Black Radiance lipsticks. At less than $2 how can I not? I picked up Reggae Red and Plum Orchid mostly on whim. An instagram post from Black Radiance didn’t make it hard either.

I reviewed two of these before and I think these good lipsticks. They’re at a price that can be a perfect retail therapy pick-me-up without the guilt that comes with it.

Do you have a favorite Black Radiance lipstick? Let me know in the comments.

First Impression: Black Radiance(@b_radiance) Comes CORRECT

Disclosure: This product was sent to me. All opinions are my own.

Black Radiance Urban Identity Trio - Correct

I rock with Black Radiance(and their sister company Wet N Wild) when it comes to eyeshadows. They’re pigmented and won’t hurt your pockets. So if you’re looking for something good for the low-low then this is it. Continue reading First Impression: Black Radiance(@b_radiance) Comes CORRECT

You Need SPF. Everyday.

You Need SPF Everyday

So let’s dead this. You need sunscreen everyday. EVERYDAY. Indoors, outdoors, while working in an office, at a counter, handing out flyers, whatever. Put it on. Reapply as needed and be active in preventing skin cancer and excessive aging of your skin.

Now, maybe you’re wondering where this is coming from. Today, The Cut put out an interview with Salma Hayek about her new CVS beauty line, Nuance Salma Hayek.  In the article she talks about how she feels about beauty, her morning routine, and her products. All dope until she says “I am completely against SPF. Completely.” When probed why she goes on to say “90% of the time, you don’t need it because you are working in an office indoors.” We’re not going to get into the fact that many of us don’t work in an office or that statistics like that are generally made up. Perhaps she’s speaking solely about herself but even if she is this misleading information for the consumer. Continue reading You Need SPF. Everyday.

Maybelline Master Drama Cream Eye Pencil – Vibrant Violet

I’m usually a wooden pencil kind of makeup addict when it comes to eyeliners. In general, they haven’t done me wrong but I wanted to give something else a shot so I grabbed Maybelline Master Drama Creme Eye Pencil in Vibrant Violet.

Some Contouring Love: MUFE 5 Camouflage Cream Palette

Contouring is a HUGE deal. Some people swear by it(You’ve seen Instagram) while others aren’t too keen on it. It’s the new thing and an old trick all at the same time. It doesn’t really matter where you fall on it to me, I’m just here to give another option that I haven’t seen getting much love since all these contouring palettes have hit the market in the last year or so.

MUFE Camouflage Cream Palette
Make Up For Ever 5 Camouflage Cream Palette($38) Available at Sephora

Considering many of the palettes are $40+ or some of the darker palettes have limited availability(see: only available on company websites) compared their palettes with lighter shades I think Make Up For Ever 5 Camouflage Cream palette is worth checking out. If you’re more partial to cream than powder then this one is right up your alley. It’s smaller than many of these contouring palettes so it will travel easily and you have a color correcting shade.  It may not be billed as a “contouring palette” but let’s be honest, many of these palettes are eyeshadow/concealer-like products repackaged to cash in on the craze anyway.

Have you tried the Make Up For Ever 5 Camouflage Cream Palette?
