LUXE OIL Cocoa Deluxe Whipped Butter

Love this cocoa butter so much!
Love this cocoa butter so much!

This is the Cocoa Deluxe Whipped Butter from LUXE OIL. It’s quickly becoming my go-to moisturizer for these brutal winter months. I found out about the product via twitter. Krissy, the butter’s creator and beauty blogger at Addicted To All Things Pretty wanted her readers to have something to fight the war against eczema and dry skin. This lovely whipped butter is her weapon.

“Cocoa Deluxe” Whipped Cocoa Butter is a decadent cocoa butter blend that’s sure to bring back nostalgic memories! Whipped to perfection, this butter blend contains pure raw cocoa butter and our signature LUXE OIL oil blend.
With a slower absorption time it also makes a great massage cream. (from website)

The 8oz butter retails for $15 and is worth every penny. I’ll be honest, I tend to not like the typical cocoa butter smell. However, this butter smells like heavenly chocolate. Along with Coconut Oil, Safflower Oil, Sea-buckthorn Oil, Avocado Oil, and Olive Oil, the raw cocoa butter has been whipped to a velvety texture. It quickly melts into your hands so it can be applied to the skin easily. The butter also functions as a hair moisturizer.

I’m really happy with my purchase of the Cocoa Deluxe Whipped Butter. My butter was packaged well and got here on time. I can see myself using this and other LUXE OIL products on myself and my family for the long haul.

Another Naked 3 Look

I wanted to show this look with my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. Some people seem to love it and others seem to think the palette just okay. I like the palette but it’s definitely ranked at 3 compared to the original Naked palette and Naked 2.

Sidenote: Before I stopped on this shade of gloss I tried a sheer grape, sheer pink, and a reddish color. I’ve seen one woman pair it with black lipstick for an edgier look, but I didn’t want to do that. With all that said, what lipsticks, glosses, etc are you pairing with Naked 3?

OCC Batty Liptar – Review

Can you see the glitter? Too bad I didn't see it on my lips.
Can you see the glitter? Too bad I didn’t see it on my lips.

I bought OCC Liptar in Batty because I love black lipstick but I ended up being disappointed. I used my lip brush to apply it and it didn’t work. I used my finger to apply and it still didn’t work. Unfortunately it’s just not as opaque as I hoped it would be. It also sunk into the lines in my lips. However, once I put it on top of another black lipstick it looked better.

I hoped for a glitter effect since that’s what it looked like in the tube but it just wasn’t meant to be. I’m sure the shiny effect I achieved on top my Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense lipstick could be achieved with a glittery lip gloss so this is really a bust for me. I would take it back but I tossed the shipping receipt. *cue sad violins*

So have you tried Batty? What did you think?

Don’t Fear The Red Lip

Nars Red Lizard Lipstick
Nars Red Lizard

I love red lipstick. This blog is called Bury Me In Red Lipstick after all so it makes sense. However, I know everyone isn’t quite there. For one reason or another some are apprehensive about red lipstick. I’m here to say there’s no need. So here are 5 tips to help you jump in.

1. Leave fear at the door. There’s something out there for you. You are not limited by your skintone. From orange-reds to deep wines it’s out there.

2. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. Whether you go to the makeup counter or try it on at home, prep your lips for color. Banish dry skin with a lip scrub or toothbrush so you can get a clear view of how the color looks on your lips.

3. Add liner and mascara. A bare face with a red lip may be jarring to see for the first time. The liner and mascara will give you a glimpse into a finished look and help you better assess how it looks.

4. Return policies are you friend. Trial and error may seem daunting and expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. Ulta, Sephora, and drug stores have good return policies. If you try something and it doesn’t look right take it back. Don’t let it gather dust in a drawer and cause you to get frustrated because you feel like you’ve wasted money.

5. Have fun. Experiment with finishes, stains, glosses. As long as you keep a positive outlook you’ll find something that works.

5 Tips For Wearing Red Lipstick

So will you try a red lipstick anytime soon?

Make A Beauty Resolution for 2014

2013 will be coming to a close in a couple of weeks. Someone has probably asked you about your New Year’s resolution or they will be asking very soon. Our answers will range from mundane to exceptional. And I hope when 2014 comes to a close we’ll look back proudly on the accomplishments that were set into motion at the end of 2013. But what about a beauty resolution? Have you thought about making one for yourself?

2014 could be the year you watch Youtube videos until you get that contouring thing right. Or you could branch out and try a brand(drugstore or high-end) you usually pass up when you’re browsing. This could be the year you tackle one of your beauty fears like getting professionally waxed. You could even resolve to set aside time to pamper yourself or *gasp* limit your purchases.

"Girl what? Limit my purchases?
“Girl what? Limit my purchases?

The sky is really the limit with this and you don’t have to tell anyone unless you want to. This is really about making a conscious effort to not get a beauty rut and take care of yourself. I think most of us know what we need/want to do, but we just have to give ourselves the freedom to do it and put in the effort.

One of the things I’d like to do is find a less pink nude lipstick to wear as an alternative to the pinkish nude Nars Dolce Vita. I’m very fond of the beigey nude look and I’d like to see if it I can pull it off. There’s always the possibility that I can’t, but I have to give it a shot right? And that’s what I’m talking about, going out on your own limb for beauty.

So do you have beauty resolution?

So Much Urban Decay Nakedness

naked all

Urban Decay released their Naked 3 eyeshadow palette recently. I wanted to do a quick post and swatch Naked, Naked 2, and Naked 3. Just because I am a hoarder like make-up a lot and had to have all three doesn’t mean everyone else does. And eventhough most of us have access to all three in a store there’s nothing like seeing it on someone’s skin. I hope this can help someone out. Which Naked palettes do you have? Which ones do you think you’re going to buy?

Pop Beauty "Bright Up Your Life" Palette and Some Encouragement

pop beauty closedI bought this Pop Beauty Bright Up Your Life eyeshadow palette a few weeks ago for an 80’s party from Ulta. It retails for $24. I think it’s a decent palette, but it takes a bit of effort to build up the color even with a primer.

With all that said I wanted to swatch this because I’m hoping someone who’s afraid of color will see that it’s nothing to be afraid of. Most of these colors look pretty against my skin to me. Having darker skin shouldn’t keep anyone from wearing something. There’s something out there for all of us.

I think most of us can pull off a lot of things when it comes to make-up but we’re scared because we’re not used to seeing it. We stay in our comfort zones and don’t venture out because in our heads “this shade” would never look good on us.

I say take a shot. Practice your eyeshadow application and you might surprise yourself.

I Got Naked For The 3rd Time

Yes, you read the title correctly. I talked all that smack and bought Urban Decay’s Naked 3 anyway. What can I say, the hoarder in me won this round, but I’m still happy that I got it. I’m eager to play around with it. And it’s a top notch palette. I’m at a point now where I just feel like you can’t go wrong with an Urban Decay purchase, but that’s me.

Urban Decay did whip us up into a frenzy and that’s probably why it sold it out twice at urbandecay.com and is currently sold out at Sephora.com. It’s still at ulta.com though, just sayin. And if you decide to go to one of the Sephora or Ulta stores and one is sold out try the other one. I lucked out and got one from Ulta after finding out the Sephora in JCPenney in the same shopping center was sold out.

And now pictures…

I think it's purty. *swoon*

A few beauty bloggers have said that Naked 3 is black girl friendly and I agree. I doubt a lot of us need to worry about it not working for us across the board. I admit when I heard “rose-toned neutrals” I got apprehensive. I now think it was unwarranted. Even the lighter shades are workable. So if you’re on the fence, think about it in terms of whether or not you want/need it and not in terms of whether or not it’s going to work for you. It still may not, but I don’t think anyone is automatically setting themselves up for the downfall by purchasing this.

So did you get Naked again?

Gotta Get Em All? Maybelline ColorSensational Color Elixirs

I’ve been on a lip product kick lately. It started out with a couple of Maybelline ColorSensational Color Elixirs and now I’m up to 12 in these last few weeks. The lovely Aprill Coleman at Glitter Gloss Garbage reviewed them a few months ago and when I saw them in my store I snatched them up and just couldn’t stop. I think I kept buying them to see if the next gloss was as good, pretty, pigmented, etc as the last one. I found out in some cases yes and in some cases no.

There’s also the #nobarelips30 challenge created by Keiko Kavari. The challenge gave me a reason to buy stuff and the fact they were drugstore products lulled me into thinking it wasn’t that bad. Some of them were even buy 1 get 1 50% off. Who doesn’t love a deal, right? Why would I pass that up? *straight face* Judgeth me not.

In any case, my kinda sorta hoarding tendencies loss is your gain.

These Maybelline Color Elixirs retail for $8.99, but I was in Walgreens recently(read: yesterday lol) and they’re having a buy 1 get 1 50% sale on them until December 7. These glosses go on really easily and it’s a wand instead of a brush, which I like. They’re not goopy or sticky. And while pigmented don’t stain.
