Some #TrulyOutrageous Developments

I’m a huge Jem fan. Maybe you watched the 80’s cartoon about a band using holograms to capture America’s heart and support a foster home for girls. I remember being completely into the complicated love triangle of Jem, Jerrica, and Rio and singing along to their catchy songs.  Recently, I was able to join in the #jemlivetweet and learn just how many times The Misfits really should’ve been arrested and thrown under the jail(Shout out to @blackgirlsnerds, @reeltalker, and @reelsistas for some fun Saturdays).

You’ve probably heard about the fall theatrical release of Jem and the Holograms. Peep these tweets(1 & 2) to see how I feel about the movie.

Spoiler: I’m not happy.

However, I am happy about new merch headed our way around the time of Jem and the Holograms October 23 release. It’s not surprising that collectable dolls and apparel are coming because it wouldn’t be Jem without some doll counterparts, but the stuff that I’m excited about are the makeup and hair products.

There’s going to be a Sephora + Jem and the Holograms Collection, a  four-piece set – eye shadow palette, liquid lip set, florescent lipstick, and compact mirror. Plus 4 semi-permanent hair dyes inspired by the band from Manic Panic. I am ready for Shana-purple afros, YES LAWD! Halloween is going to be that much more cooler.

So are you a Jem and the Holograms fan? Who’s your favorite?

    1. You’re right and that makes sense. I’m disappointed because the producers used older Jem fans’ excitement to create buzz around the project only to make something they wouldn’t want to see.
