A Tight, Sticky Mess: Wet N Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color

You know how it goes. You’re bored and maybe you have a few bucks burning a hole in your pocket so you say “I’ll buy that lip product I saw so and so talking about.” You get lucky and there it is, beauty at a bargain in your drugstore. So you go home eager to test it out only to find out it wasn’t what you wanted or hoped for. This was me with Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color.

It almost looks like I could pick it off. :-/

Of all the claims about this product the one that held true for me is that it’s transfer proof. I kissed the back of my hand, I drank wine directly from the bottle(don’t judge me), and I kissed my kids goodnight. It didn’t move. However, there’s a trade-off to that long lasting lip color.

Your best bet is to use one coat of product on your lips. I’m talking one side of the wand for your bottom lip and the other side for your top lip. Any more and you risk that smooth application turning into a flake-like mess. Once dry you have to deal with a stickiness and tightness on your lips. The tightness, while not unusual for a long-lasting lip products, is something I don’t care for all that much.

For the price this product has its place. This doesn’t feel like an everyday kind of thing unless you’re looking for a way to not reapply lip products throughout the day. If not save it for a wedding or other event where you might be short on opportunities to reapply. Just make sure you have some type of oil to take it off. No tissue or makeup wipe will do anything to this once it’s on. You’ve been warned.

  1. I also hate the tightness of non-moving lip products…it’s something I just can’t get over and then the complication that you mentioned of taking it off…it’s just too much! It’s so unfortunate, but hopefully one day a long wearing lipstick that is transfer proof with actually feel comfortable one day!

  2. I couldn’t agree more. I purchased this, thinking I would have a poppin’, glossy red lip! Wrong. Dry as a desert! BUT, when I combined it with a red lip gloss from E.L.F. it was actually wearable and a lot smoother.
