Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation is the first Nars foundation I’ve tried. I have used the tinted moisturizer(I like it) and I’ve used the Radiant Creamy Concealer(I like it) but I can’t compare it to Sheer Matte or Sheer Glow.
I did not wear it for 16 hours but I did wear it for a good 8 hours and I liked it a lot. Usually, when I wear foundation it starts to feel heavy and uncomfortable so I want to wash it off. The Nars didn’t do that. I found myself thinking about washing it off out of habit but not out of discomfort. I kept telling myself to give it another hour wondering when the overwhelming urge to scrub my face would kick in until my bedtime snuck up on me. So compared to other foundations it felt weightless.
This foundation took more than one drop for me but I bring my foundation down my neck. So, I think this claim can still be true for some. The one drop covers a lot and since it does not come out in a huge glob multiple pumps of this foundation does not equal multiple pumps of a typical foundation. With that said, you should apply it(shake well first) with your hands or a brush because a sponge will just soak it up and frustrate you.
Who’s this foundation for really?
This foundation is for all skintypes if you go by the Nars website. Does that mean it’s going to automatically work for you? Of course not but depending on how you prep your skin it could. I watched the application videos on narscosmetics.com and the biggest difference in application was the prep and follow-up to the foundation. In the oily skin video Jenny Smith, Nars Lead Makeup Stylist, primed with Pro-Prime Pore Refining Primer and set with the new Soft Velvet Loose Powder. In the dry skin application video the skin was primed with the Light Optimizing Primer and set with the Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder. My point is think about what your skin needs as well as the look you want when it comes to this foundation.
There’s a lot of hyperbole going around about this foundation. Some are saying this is the best foundation ever while others think it is the worst. I’m somewhere outside of that. I think it’s a good foundation. I think it does what it says. I like the shade range. This is my holy grail brand after all so I’m to say it didn’t disappoint.
