I started off on the wrong foot with this eyeliner. I meant to buy the Onyx Rush, a black, but I ended up coming home with Charcoal Skies, which is grey. Rather than take it back I thought I’d give it a shot anyway.
Maybelline Master Kajal is “a whole new way to smolder: our first liner designed for an easy glide along the inside line.”(maybelline.com)
The cone shape of the Master Kajal was part of the appeal for me. I also liked that it could be put it on the waterline as well. However, after using it I didn’t like it.
It was easy to use. I didn’t feel awkward applying the liner on its side. It even seems like something that could give you a good winged eye. It’s just that it blended into nothing.
I did an intense winged eye. How intense, you ask? So intense that my son said that I looked like a rockstar. After a couple of hours it started to fade. Then I forgot I was wearing the liner, touched my eye, and that was all she wrote for my winged eye.
There’s always the chance that my expectations just weren’t going to be met with this product. It’s billed as waterproof so I expected it set and it didn’t. I thought it would be hard to remove and require waterproof eye makeup remover and it wasn’t. And like said before, I picked up a color I wouldn’t have purchased on purpose. Since it smudges so easily this could be good for doing a smoky eye though.
Unfortunately, I ended up taking it back to the store. I might pick up the black at some point and see if my feelings change. For now though, Charcoal Skies is bust for me.
