Freeman Beauty Charcoal and Black Sugar Polishing Mask Review

Freeman Beauty Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask

I feel like I’m turning into a Freeman product junkie. Yesterday I hit up 3 different stores just to find the Charcoal and Black Sugar Polish Mask, the subject of today’s post. A few days ago I finished off my 3rd travel size packet of the product and realized I needed the full size in my house ASAP because I felt such a difference in my skin after using it.

The mask is for all skin types and it contains activated charcoal to help purify the skin. The black sugar is in an oil base that’s spread around the face. It’s left on the face for 5-7 minutes. Then gently massaged for 1-2 minutes to exfoliate and rinsed off. It reminds me of a sugar and oil lip exfoliant, but for the face.

The black sugar particles are a decent size so depending on your exfoliation tolerance this could be a positive or a negative.  If you prefer exfoliating with really fine granules then this probably isn’t for you. However, there is a travel size so you can still try it without any full size commitment.

The mask heats up as it is spread across the face. I felt warmth, but not discomfort. Some reviews on the Freeman Beauty website used the word “burning”. I didn’t experience that, however, everyone’s skin sensitivities are different. I would skip this if I have the type of skin that gets easily irritated. If I’m reading this and I don’t have easily irritated skin, then I may give it a shot. In the end use your own judgment.

The recommendation for use is 2 times a week or as often as needed. Don’t hurt your face by going too hard with this or any exfoliating product. In other words, you probably don’t need to use this every single day.

As for me, once I rinsed everything off my skin felt softer. My moisturizer with sunscreen went on a smoother and my skin felt good all day. My skin felt so good that it made me want to buy the full size product instead of using the travel size packets. (I felt so silly traveling all over to hunt this down). So I think this is a nice addition to my skincare arsenal.
